Sumdog competition
Yesterday was the last day for the sumdog competition and room 8 was really pushing hard to become 1st place but even though we came 2nd I think that it was a good achievement because we were in front of room 10. What I enjoyed about the sumdog competition was that we had so much fun and that we all learnt something new. I was so glad to hear that we came second place, and next time we do this I would like to strive harder to get to 1st place. I was also glad that the top 3 classes was from Glen Innes school and I thought that was a big improvement.

Pastel Art Technique
Yesterday we did a piece of art but we used pastels to do it, and I had a lot of fun because I learnt something new. We had to finish it today and I am glad that it is going to be displayed on the wall. My favorite thing about doing this was getting to blend other colors with other colors, if we had to do this again I would try different colors next time.

This is my term 4 e-asttle math strand test, and I think that I have accelerated a little. My e-asttle results was a 4B but I am happy because I have accelerated. What I am aiming for is a 6 as a year 8 student and I am going to try my best to get the mark I want. What I'm going to do next time is practice with my siblings so that I can learn and so my younger siblings will learn as well.

Science experiment- breakfast cup
Making breakfast cup
Today we made a breakfast cup and it tasted so good. When we were making these we were not only waiting to eat it but we were also watching out for the chemical change, and the chemical change was the egg and the bread. The egg was cooked and the bread turned hard like a toast. The temperature change was hot and burning as I held it in my hands, and there was a release of smoke. The chemical change was irreversible and it also formed a new substance which was cooked. Some people enjoyed it but some people did not eat it, but for me it was good. Next time I would like to do it again but better.

Experiment- elephant toothpaste
Today we did a science experiment, and the experiment was on elephant toothpaste. In my group was Rebecca, Heather, Natalia and Mya and we all discussed what we needed for the experiment. The ingredients we used was food coloring, yeast, hydrogen peroxide and warm water. I really enjoyed learning how to do it, my favorite part was seeing it rise from the cup. I was really excited when we did it because I have never done it. What I would like to improve next time we do this is make it in a bigger cup. I would like to do more experiments in science to learn more about science.

Conduct the experiment= There was ashes and smoke coming out of the newspaper when we lit it up, it was black and pieces of the newspaper started to fall off
|
Record your observations and data colour change,= colur changed to black and the it smelt burnt, it also released smoke and ashes and the temperature change was hot
|
Analyse information= we lit the newspapers up and it burnt, and a new substance was formed and it was irreversible

Reading - Comparing
Today for reading we had to compare one celebration with Diwali and one of the celebrations we discussed as a class was Chinese New Year and our goal was to have two differences between Chinese New Year and Diwali and we had to have three similaritys between these two celebrations.
The best pet
Having a puppy for a pet is the best pet you could have. There are many enjoyable things of having a puppy for a pet. Puppies are cute and small. They like to run around a lot. Having a puppy for a pet can make all your days fun, sometimes not. Puppy's can be just like a friend and they can also be a helping hand when you are in your sad moments. Puppy's are soft they can be a cushion to lean on to when you are scared. They can make up a fun life.

Happy Diwali
Happy Diwali
Diwali is the biggest Hindu celebration in the world because Diwali is known everywhere around the world. Diwali tells us a story about a war that happened long before we were born. The Diwali celebration is from the 18 October and it ends on the 22 October, so we are very fortunate to have a lot of days to celebrate Diwali.
We are lucky enough to have a celebration like this, I really like Diwali because there would be lots of sweets made on the day. I think that we should make it a public holiday because it is an important festival. In Hindu culture they prepare their things before the celebration in order to be ready on the day. I think that Diwali is a special celebration because it unites together sisters and brothers to give each other gifts. In the Hindu way they wake early in the morning to clean their houses, they clean theirs houses for a reason and that reason is so the Gods can come into their houses because the Gods would not come into an unclean home. During the celebration they light fireworks.
Today we drew our final rangoli designs outside with chalk and I had a lot of fun, for me I was really amazed by other students designs. They were so creative. Diwali is a Hindu festival of lights that everyone celebrates. There were so many different types of rangoli designs, it was all so beautiful. I could not choose my favorite in fact all were my favorites. There are many kinds of way making it, one way is by drawing on concrete with chalk and another way is to use powder and broken rice.
I have learnt so much about Diwali, I never knew before that Diwali was the biggest Hindu festival but I now know. What I was really amazed about was how you could make it with powder and broken rice, so that was one interesting fact I found out in my learning of Diwali.

Spending 2 weeks holiday camping
Last term’s 2 week holiday I really enjoyed being with my family and with my friend, but what I enjoyed most was going on a kids camp with my little friends and church family. We had a lot of fun together and we also took a lot of photos.
What I enjoyed most about this camp was that we would always watch movies at night and we would turn the tv off until everyone was asleep, and I also enjoyed making breakfast for all the little kids early in the morning. I enjoyed how we got to play as many games at night before we went to sleep. My favorite part of watching movies every night was that we watched new movies every night and we got to eat, and for me it felt like I was in the real movies but even though I was not I was still happy to be with my church family.
What I did not enjoy was not being with my family for 2 whole weeks but at least I had my little brother to comfort me. I didn’t enjoy the part where I had to pack my stuff and say goodbye to my family. Being with my friend were okay but being without my family was not a good feeling to have, but all the fun we had made me feel like I was at home playing with my siblings. I wanted my friends to come but they forgot all about the kids camp, and some of my friends mums didn’t let them come so I just stuck with my little friends.
At the end of the OKC(only kids camp) parew7ts zoomed quickly through the gate of our church and waited for use to speed up our eating because that time it was morning and we were having breakfast. I had the feeling that I wanted to stay a few weeks but the 2 weeks holiday was over and at the same time I wanted to go home to spend time with my family.
This terms holiday is coming up and I really can’t wait because this time it is much different than the first holidays. I will be with my family for two whole weeks and we would do so much stuff together.

Word of the day- 28/09/17
Yesterday we learnt a new word and the word was concentrics, what we had to do was we had to go a google drawing and write the root word, new word, antonyms, synonyms and the meaning of the word. I went on enternet and searched it up because it was a new word for me and it was the first time I had heard of it. My favorite part was when I knew what it meant and now I know this word and now I could teach other people.

Quotation marks and possessive apostrophe
This is a worksheet which we had to learn where to put the Quotation marks and the possessive apostrophes. For me it was kind of hard because I did not know where it was meant to go but I really enjoyed. This really helped me to understand more about Quotation marks and possessive apostrophes and next time I would like to learn more and have a good understanding.
Reflection on round robin writing
Today we played a game which was called round robin writing and I thought it helped me alot with writing and especially by looking at the picture and imagining it and writing it. What I did not like was when I did not choose to participate in this activity. What really helped me in this game was that I could understand more about writing. Natalia and Lakai were in my group and they were really helpful and I hope to do this again.

Writing T3W8
Whoosh whoosh there it goes again, the sound of the howling wind that pushes the tree’s to sway there and here. Slipping beneath broken parts of cars like a serpent trying to find a way to survive. Tears rolling down mixed with rain drops as I crawled as fast as I could past rushing legs. Shivering there alone with no one to comfort this little child, scared of what might happen.
Out of control the voracious wind had got more out of control creating pieces of vehicles and building parts flying everywhere hitting walls, windows and tall buildings causing it to collapse. The mighty wind pushing the flood to it limits where it was now really out of hand, splashing towards houses and like little fast mice silently sneaking beneath doors of homes. The flood was rushing so fast that it blasted against the surrounding gates and powerfully pushing it to break. Ground shaking, screams everywhere, running for their lives. Of all the storms this was the strongest ever discovered.
Cell phones open beep bub dialing emergency numbers, crying and waiting at the same time for emergencies to come zooming quickly to handle the flood. All of a sudden, sounds like sirens zooming down the road quickly rushing out of the truck to stop the flood from rushing to fast. Renewing gate by gate but it was impossible for anyone to stop the flood. As the emergencies left, people running to beg for the emergencies to help but all that came out of there mouths was
“Sorry we can’t handle a flood like this”.
Again people calling for helicopters to come and save them, as soon as the helicopters slowly landed people rushed to the doors to be one of the people to be saved. The driver of the helicopter saw the it was to many people and that it could not take everyone. The look of refusing overwhelmed him, words so silent that no one could hear. As people were hoping to hop on, immediately the helicopter started it engine ready for take off with no passengers. With people trying to break open the doors, the driver had enough and just left with just smoke of engine like clouds in the air.
The people did not know what to do now with no help from anyone, some bursted into tears, some just sat there thinking of all the good times they had and some were even stressed out and complaining that it would be the end of good times. As I stood up in front of this whole crowd of worried people, afraid but I just confessed that we could all work together to stop the behavior of the flood, some agreed and some just laughed. But all the people that agreed decided to work all together as one. It would of worked but it no it wasn’t because they didn’t have everyone's strength put together and everyone to participate, so soon the people that laughed saw that they needed more power so everyone decided to work together, and their team work was so overwhelming that it finally worked.
And everyone had learnt a lesson . Everyone in this town knew what was the key to keeping themselves and everyone safe from any harm. I was really proud of myself for doing what was right even though I was a young scared kid.

The compass
Today we learnt how to use a compass to practice making perpendiculars, and for me I did not understand it much. I thought that it was meant to do circles but it was actually meant for something else. This tool was really helpfull within understanding perpendiculars. I did not complete my perpendicular because I did not understand enough about how to use a compass.

A book with real life characters
A book with real life characters
One beautiful day, a book lying beside the glittering water fountain.Days passed no one had thought of picking it up. leaves blowing there and here, trees swaying to and from all of a sudden “WHOOSH WHOOSH!!!. The wind had got even stronger, Again out of nowhere, uninvited flipped open the book. A spark of light and smoke grew bigger, “BOOM”. Standing there was a blonded, short girl.
“Where am I” weeped the girl. She stood up and searched everywhere for the book, “oh I can’t find the book”. With crossed arms “I can’t go home now”. Suddenly a quiet, soft voice spoke “what’s wrong” “I lost my book” replied the girl”. “Oh don’t worry I will help you find you book”, “but I already tried” answered the girl. Again the quiet voice spoke “ come sleep at my house and tomorrow morning we will search for it” “ok” scarcely replied the girl.
The next sunshine morning they went looking for the lost book, they searched nearly everywhere but one place they did not look, it was the fountain. As they were walking towards the fountain the quiet voice asked and asked a group of sentences of questions each time the girl replied.

Hamburger and fries
Today at our final session for tech we made hamburgers and fries for our last week of food tech. We needed a lot of ingredients to make the hamburger, but it was easy to make the fries because we didn’t even need to make it, all we had to do was just hot them in the oven. What I really loved about the hamburger was how it looked really tasty and I could not wait to taste it after we have made it. What I want to improve better next time is to not ruin the egg but make it perfect so it will make the burger look beautiful. I just want to say thankyou to Mrs Heka for teaching all of us how to cook new things and try making new things, I learnt something new every time we go to tech and I always go home and practice everything that I have learnt from Mrs Heka. Thankyou Mrs Heka!!!!!!!!!!
