Today we learnt how to use a compass to draw concentric circles and I really enjoyed it. I learnt so much. I felt enjoyment when I made perfect circles and getting to know how to use a compass. My favorite part was using the compass. Next I would like to learn how to make a square. Today’s lesson was fun. I liked using a compass to make concentric circles.
I am a Year 8 student at Glen Innes School in Auckland, New Zealand. I am in Room 8 and my teacher is Ms Ramkolowan.

Quotation marks and possessive apostrophe
This is a worksheet which we had to learn where to put the Quotation marks and the possessive apostrophes. For me it was kind of hard because I did not know where it was meant to go but I really enjoyed. This really helped me to understand more about Quotation marks and possessive apostrophes and next time I would like to learn more and have a good understanding.
Reflection on round robin writing
Today we played a game which was called round robin writing and I thought it helped me alot with writing and especially by looking at the picture and imagining it and writing it. What I did not like was when I did not choose to participate in this activity. What really helped me in this game was that I could understand more about writing. Natalia and Lakai were in my group and they were really helpful and I hope to do this again.

Writing T3W8
Whoosh whoosh there it goes again, the sound of the howling wind that pushes the tree’s to sway there and here. Slipping beneath broken parts of cars like a serpent trying to find a way to survive. Tears rolling down mixed with rain drops as I crawled as fast as I could past rushing legs. Shivering there alone with no one to comfort this little child, scared of what might happen.
Out of control the voracious wind had got more out of control creating pieces of vehicles and building parts flying everywhere hitting walls, windows and tall buildings causing it to collapse. The mighty wind pushing the flood to it limits where it was now really out of hand, splashing towards houses and like little fast mice silently sneaking beneath doors of homes. The flood was rushing so fast that it blasted against the surrounding gates and powerfully pushing it to break. Ground shaking, screams everywhere, running for their lives. Of all the storms this was the strongest ever discovered.
Cell phones open beep bub dialing emergency numbers, crying and waiting at the same time for emergencies to come zooming quickly to handle the flood. All of a sudden, sounds like sirens zooming down the road quickly rushing out of the truck to stop the flood from rushing to fast. Renewing gate by gate but it was impossible for anyone to stop the flood. As the emergencies left, people running to beg for the emergencies to help but all that came out of there mouths was
“Sorry we can’t handle a flood like this”.
Again people calling for helicopters to come and save them, as soon as the helicopters slowly landed people rushed to the doors to be one of the people to be saved. The driver of the helicopter saw the it was to many people and that it could not take everyone. The look of refusing overwhelmed him, words so silent that no one could hear. As people were hoping to hop on, immediately the helicopter started it engine ready for take off with no passengers. With people trying to break open the doors, the driver had enough and just left with just smoke of engine like clouds in the air.
The people did not know what to do now with no help from anyone, some bursted into tears, some just sat there thinking of all the good times they had and some were even stressed out and complaining that it would be the end of good times. As I stood up in front of this whole crowd of worried people, afraid but I just confessed that we could all work together to stop the behavior of the flood, some agreed and some just laughed. But all the people that agreed decided to work all together as one. It would of worked but it no it wasn’t because they didn’t have everyone's strength put together and everyone to participate, so soon the people that laughed saw that they needed more power so everyone decided to work together, and their team work was so overwhelming that it finally worked.
And everyone had learnt a lesson . Everyone in this town knew what was the key to keeping themselves and everyone safe from any harm. I was really proud of myself for doing what was right even though I was a young scared kid.

The compass
Today we learnt how to use a compass to practice making perpendiculars, and for me I did not understand it much. I thought that it was meant to do circles but it was actually meant for something else. This tool was really helpfull within understanding perpendiculars. I did not complete my perpendicular because I did not understand enough about how to use a compass.

Warrior Visit
Today afternoon we got to see the warriors, and we had a lot of fun there was heaps of laughter and cheering. I had lots of fun, and what I enjoyed about this visit was that we got to see them in real life. They were talking to us about getting lots of sleep and lots of water, they were also doing activities that were so fun to play. Next time I would want to see more of the warriors teams and to play more activities.

Science Expo
Last week Friday we had a science expo in the hall for everyone to have a look, and me, Capella, Ana and Heather were explaining our classes simple machine and I was really nervous to talk to people but I just did it anyway. What I really enjoyed about the science expo was that we could see the other classes simple machine and for me it was really interesting looking at people's amazing effort that they put into their work. I would love to see more parents come to see their kids effort next time.
